Earth4Energy Review

I have been asked many times to review the Earth4Energy guide for making solar panels and wind turbines. Now that I have had a chance to examine the product I can understand why it is the most popular of its type currently available, selling twice as many kits as its nearest rivals.

Most diy solar energy guides offer some sort of manual plus supporting videos. The problem that I have found is the generally poor quality of these offerings. Bear in mind that they claim to be for both experts and novices in making solar products. So I find text that is badly written and difficult to understand. Pictures that confuse rather than clarify. Diagrams that are just plain wrong. What annoys me most is that a novice buying one of these products is very likely to be put off diy for life and forced into buying a readymade solar panel or wind turbine for many thousands of dollars.

My Earth4Energy review has unearthed (pardon the pun!) a quite different product. This is a very well produced package that does what it claims.

First of all, what do you get for your money?

There is a manual that contains detailed plans for making solar panels that will produce about 18 volts and up to about 120 watts of power. Linked together, several such panels would produce over one kilowatt, enough to power one or more domestic appliances.

The plans are clear and easy to understand, with plenty of photos, sketches and diagrams to help explain the assembly process.

Then there are simple, step-by-step assembly instructions that work well with the plans, and include expert guidance on electrical wiring and panel mounting. Again, well produced and easy to understand.

There are several videos that have been produced to a very high standard, and show the whole construction process clearly by demonstrating it in a step-by-step way. They include information about safety precautions and use of tools, which I thought was a good idea. This is a screenshot of one video showing how to put a solar panel together:

You get other useful items as well, such as a digital calculator for working out the sizes and numbers of solar panels to meet your particular power requirements. How to find and apply for tax credits and other government rebates. And the basics of solar energy conversion, which will help you understand how the whole system works.

A guide to building a wind turbine is thrown in as something of a bonus, which is a pity because I believe that wind energy is just as good as solar for providing green energy. The two complement each other, and a serious alternative energy strategy should include both wind and solar energy systems on an equal footing.

Perhaps it is simply because making a wind turbine is so easy. Anyway, the Earth4Energy guide includes the same quality plans, sketches and diagrams, along with clear step-by-step assembly instructions, as those for making a solar panel.

Finally, I note that Earth4Energy provides a proper online support system for any questions that might arise during the assembly process. There is also a full, no hassle guarantee that will refund your money, and the company is sufficiently established that I trust it to make good on this guarantee if it is ever needed.

So, when I decided to review Earth4Energy, did I find a good product? Does Earth4Energy work? The answer is definitely positive. It is a very good guide and plans kit for anyone of any skill level who wants an expertly produced instruction manual for making both solar panels and wind turbines easily, cheaply and safely.

It is excellent value for money.  If you decide to buy the Earth4Energy kit you will not be disappointed.  Thoroughly recommended.
