A Portable Solar Generator Is Easy To Make
A portable solar generator is a great idea. For instance, if you have an RV (recreational vehicle), you will want to enjoy independence from hotel bookings and freedom to change your journey at will. In theory you can go anywhere you want, but often you are restricted to available camp sites because you need somewhere to recharge your batteries. Even using your batteries sparingly to work on-board appliances you will still find they will need recharging from time to time – usually more often than is convenient!
Outdoor activities such as BBQs, parties and camping will all benefit from having a small portable generator handy to extend your enjoyment well into the night.
This is where portable solar generators come in very useful. Anyone looking for quiet portable generators, mobile generators or a home backup generator should consider the solar-powered variety.
Carry one in your RV, and you will enjoy the independence and freedom of the road so often advertised but seldom experienced.

Surprisingly, a diy solar generator is very easy and cheap to make.
You might be considering fitted solar panels for your RV instead of a portable solar power generator. These panels can be easily stored if fold-able, and they are usually quite light and easy to move. A single 8 square foot solar panel will generate about 75 to 100 watts, which is about the same as a pair of golf cart batteries. This would probably be sufficient for a typical 24ft RV but it would depend, of course, on your own electrical needs. Most RVs use no more than 400 watts. Perhaps start with a couple of solar panels, and fit some more as needed.
If you plan to use your RV regularly in hot weather, you will have one or two other things to consider. You will need to fit a solar-powered battery charger with a battery temperature compensation device to reduce the danger of damaging your batteries. Also, solar panels on the roof of an RV can get very warm, which can lower their efficiency and can lead to voltage drops. Your solar panels will need to be rated at about 17 volts or higher to stop this becoming a problem. These are just some things to keep in mind.
There is a good range of RV solar panel kits on the market but these tend to be very pricey. The alternative, which I strongly recommend, is to make a portable solar generator yourself. You will find it very easy, a lot of fun, and literally anybody can do it. And you will save a packet compared with the bought variety.
What you will need, however, is expert advice before you start to build a solar panel or a portable solar generator for rv use, otherwise you will inevitably waste a lot of time and effort doing research and calculations, and not necessarily doing the job properly.
This is not a problem, because I have located a good source of expertise in designing and planning a diy solar generator or solar panels. The kit includes excellent and clear step-by-step instructions as well as a good selection of plans, diagrams and sketches, for only a few dollars. It comes with a good, no hassle guarantee that will refund your money if you are not satisfied for any reason. A comforting, risk-free feature that I like a lot.
I know this will be a good investment and strongly recommended it. Have fun making your solar electric portable generators – yes, it is likely you will make more than one!
