Product: SimpleHeaters DIY Solar Water Heater Guide

The SimpleHeaters DIY Solar Water Heater Guide has been produced by Tom Hayden, who has much experience and knowledge of the solar energy business. This guide is similar to another by Tom as part of his Green Living Kit reviewed elsewhere on this website, in case anyone is wondering.

It aims to provide simple instructions for making a solar-powered water heater yourself and installing it in your existing hot water system.

The guide contains 90 pages of clear, step-by-step instructions for all stages of construction and installation, and includes a range of options for several solar water heater layouts. I would say that these options would cover pretty much any design of domestic hot water system.

Tom claims that even a DIY novice could produce a working solar water heater as a weekend project costing less than $75.

I have personal experience of a simple thermo-syphoning solar hot water system that worked even when there was snow outside. It was so efficient that I never needed the electric immersion heater fitted in the hot water tank. Consequently I am a firm believer in these green energy systems. They are cheap to build, and provide endless ‘free’ hot water. I was keen, therefore, to review the SimpleHeaters DIY Solar Water Heater Guide.

Overall, this really is an impressive guide produced to a high standard and for a modest outlay. Everything is laid out clearly and simply so that even a beginner should have no difficulty assembling and fitting the solar heater. And, from previous experience with Tom Hayden’s products, I would expect there to be excellent support to help resolve any little problem that might arise.

There are various options for making a solar heater and fitting it into all common, and some not-so-common, hot water systems although none of this is at all complicated. No plumbing experience or any other special skills are required, and most people will have all the tools needed for the project. Again, I can vouch for this from personal experience of these systems.

I see that the SimpleHeaters DIY Solar Water Heater Guide comes with a 60-day guarantee which promises a full refund if not satisfied for any reason, which is normal for a good quality product such as this, and I am glad that it is included.

If you are planning to fit a solar water heater then I strongly recommend that you take a look at this product. A stock system will cost upwards of $800 before installation, whereas you can build and fit one easily yourself for $100 or so, including the price of this guide.

My Simple Heaters Guide review has found that the SimpleHeaters Solar Water Heater is, as it claims, simple to make and install. I think it will be quite a lot of fun, too, and very satisfying. It is a good kit, good value and one of the best solar water heater guides currently available in my opinion.

Highly recommended.
